More than 1,300 flights were canceled across the United States on Monday as Hurricane Beryl intensified and made landfall in Texas.

According to flight tracking website FlightAware, 1,331 flights have been canceled and 505 flights delayed as of 6:06 a.m. ET (3:36 p.m. IST).

United Airlines delayed 406 flights, the most of the day, followed by 268 flights by Southwest Airlines.

Both United and Southwest airlines have issued travel advisories citing the impact of Hurricane Beryl on various airports, including Austin, Corpus Christi, Harlingen and Houston, among others, in the region.

Beryl, which caused widespread destruction across the Caribbean and left at least 11 people dead, has now strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said the storm could reach Category 2 strength by the time it makes landfall Monday.

Texas’ largest ports also shut down operations and shipping traffic Sunday after Beryl intensified.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had warned Friday of thunderstorms affecting travel across the country.
