Joan Mir 'won't stop trying' after German MotoGP nightmare

Joan Mir and Honda’s struggles reached a new low at the German MotoGP, when he was beaten on track by Stefan Bradl before the Honda test rider was given a post-race penalty.

Mir was more than 43 seconds behind race winner Francesco Bagnaia, while finishing more than 17 seconds behind the other three full-time Honda riders.

After retiring from the Italian and Dutch Grands Prix, finishing the 30-lap race at Sachsenring was therefore a step forward, even if it may not seem like it given the lack of performance and the problems he has faced.

Mir said: “We have to use this weekend to understand what happened and how to avoid it in the future.

“Once again I failed to exploit my full potential and had more difficulties than the other Honda riders.

“A long, tough race with a lot to learn from. The team and I have already studied the data and we have some ideas on what should be changed in the future.

“We don’t stop working, we don’t stop trying and our goal is to come back stronger to Silverstone.”

Across the garage, Luca Marini scored his first point of the season by finishing 15th – 0.037s behind Takaaki Nakagami.
