Woman charged after finding over 2 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl during Clarksburg traffic stop

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A woman has been charged after officers found more than 2 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl during a traffic stop in Clarksburg.

On July 2, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 1996 Chevy 1500 “for defective equipment (tail light out and loud exhaust)” while it was in the area of ​​Chestnut Street in Clarksburg, according to a criminal complaint.

During the stop, deputies made contact with Taylor Jenkins, 30, of Clarksburg, and requested a K-9 unit to conduct a free-air search around the area of ​​the vehicle; the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics, deputies said.

At that point, officers searched the vehicle and found approximately 1.76 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly a half-pound of fentanyl, a digital scale and a “large quantity” of U.S. currency, according to the complaint.

Jenkins was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. She is being held at the North Central Regional Jail.
