The yellow-throated warbler made an unusual stopover

LEBANON, OH — Although yellow-throated warblers are typically found in pine forests, sycamore-bald cypress swamps and wooded areas near streams, Warren County Wildlife Officer Dave Woehr said he was able to snap the photo after “spotting it checking out my sunflowers and hummingbird feeder this morning.”

This was a rather unique opportunity according to www.allaboutbirds.org since “Yellow-throated warblers only use feeders occasionally, but you can still provide habitat for them by landscaping with native trees and shrubs.”

These small, well-proportioned birds with sharp, pointed bills breed in southeastern North America. Their breeding range extends from southern Pennsylvania and northern Missouri to the Gulf of Mexico.
