Family shocked after dog sets fire to stove and sets house on fire

This is the moment a dog ignored all fire safety precautions and lit a stove, setting his owner’s house on fire while they slept.

Footage shows the dog casually turning the knob to light the cooker before flames spread across the hob on June 26.

Soon, the kitchen cabinets are seen on fire as the fire alarm goes off in the background.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department released the footage after being called to the home by a HomePod device that sent them a “high heat” warning.

Fortunately, one of the owners was able to put out the fire himself.

A man was treated for smoke inhalation, USAToday reports.

No other injuries, including that of the dog, were reported.

But the family was forced to leave the house because of the damage caused.

The dog’s role in the fire was only discovered when investigators reviewed surveillance video from the home to determine the cause.
