Allinson: ‘Silent Majority’ Open to Assisted Dying

MHK resumes debate on controversial bill

The MHK is expected to continue debating assisted dying in the House of Representatives this morning, marking the seventh day of discussion at the clause stage.

During this stage, the House will examine and debate the bill clause by clause before moving to the third and final reading at a later sitting.

Today (9 July) the focus will be on the possibility of a voluntary membership scheme allowing health professionals to sign up to a register to provide assisted suicide services.

Bill author Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson hopes today will bring the Isle of Man a step closer to finalising the legislation.

The topic has been the subject of intense scrutiny, both in the political and public world.
