Two planes approach closely in the sky of Syracuse: the incident filmed by a camera (video)

Video captured by a North Syracuse police dash cam shows two planes coming dangerously close over Syracuse Monday morning. The footage reveals the planes’ paths as they cross paths, almost appearing to collide.

The FAA said an air traffic controller asked Blue Streak Flight 5511 to “turn around” to avoid a plane departing on the same runway. Flight 5511, an American Airlines subsidiary, landed safely after a brief delay.

Syracuse Hancock International Airport confirmed there were no disruptions to operations and referred airspace inquiries to the FAA.
