King Charles launches perfume inspired by his gardens

Ditch Ariana Grande, Kylie Jenner, and Jennifer Lopez, because a new celebrity beauty brand is in the works. King Charles joins the crowd of celebrities creating fragrances, and if smelling like an elderly British monarch with unimaginable riches appeals to you, then the king’s new scent is for you.

Charles has launched a new fragrance in partnership with Truefitt & Hill called Highgrove Splash, which is inspired by the royal scents that linger in the gardens of the Highgrove estate and which we mere mortals could only fantasize about the smell of, until now.

According to the official product description, Highgrove Splash’s “bright citrus notes mingle with the exquisite essence of cypress, instantly awakening the senses and revealing a heart of serene lavender and exotic copaiba balsam. With the grounding presence of vetiver and the uplifting warmth of cedarwood, the base notes add richness and subtle complexity to this exceptional fragrance.” The scent, which is specifically “designed for the distinguished gentleman,” according to the website, also contains delicate notes of papyrus and lemon to complete the olfactory palette.

Highgrove Splash is currently available to buy for £135, with all proceeds going to Charles’ The Kings Foundation, which supports urban design, architecture and communities. Unfortunately, the fragrance is only available for shipping throughout the UK and Northern Ireland, meaning only a select few can actually smell like the king. Stock levels of the fragrance are currently low, so fingers crossed for a Charles x Sephora partnership in the future.

This isn’t the first time Charles has proven himself to be a beauty queen (or rather, a king). While he was still Prince of Wales, he collaborated with British perfume house Penhaligon’s to launch Highgrove Bouquet in August 2022. Labelled as “the fragrance of the future,” the scent placed a strong emphasis on environmental friendliness, with the bottle containing 100% recyclable materials and all printing using organic ink that did not contain mineral oils. The Highgrove estate also served as inspiration for Charles at the time, with a focus on the weeping lime tree that grows in its gardens.

The Highgrove Gardens boutique also sells clothing, accessories, books and other bath and body products including soaps, perfumes, shaving oils, body lotions and more to bring out your inner princess.
