Ford has gone almost all-in on crossovers and SUVs in the New World, as the latest generation Mustang remains the brand’s only low-slung survivor in our market. All other models are either SUVs or pickups, with the occasional touch of electrification, and it’s a sad sight for any true car enthusiast.

You remember when the Blue Oval was dedicated to traditional passenger cars, right? After all, not so long ago, the Dearborn company’s portfolio included models like the Fusion and Focus. And it’s time to shed some virtual light on the compact model, because it’s been brought back from the dead digitally, with emphasis on the word “digitally.”

What we have here are some unofficial renderings of the 2025 Ford Focus. Digimods Design took to YouTube earlier this week to post these CGIs that are clearly inspired by the Mustang S650. So, you can see a familiar front end with the Mustang logo adorning the grille, the same taillights, diffuser, bumper, and other elements at the back, and other features that have been practically lifted from the muscle car and adapted to fit the design.

As for the car that served as the blank canvas for these unofficial digital illustrations, it is the real Ford Focus, the Mk4 that the automaker still manufactures and sells abroad. The compact hatchback, a rival to the Honda Civic and VW Golf, is being built at the Saarlouis plant in Germany, and Ford plans to stop production completely in 2022, as it announced two years ago.

Like it or not, time is running out for the Ford Focus and its departure will be a sad day for the compact class and for the entire automotive industry. It is not yet known what Ford’s plans are for the Saarlouis plant, but some Chinese carmakers have expressed interest in taking over. The blue oval will cut 3,500 jobs at its German plant, but will retain 1,000 employees.

Does this mean the Focus could return, perhaps with a new generation that would be forbidden fruit in the US? That would be a big no, as Ford has shown interest in expanding its premium vehicle offerings, with a focus (pun intended) on electrification. So an all-new compact (and subcompact – Fiesta) sedan wouldn’t be anywhere near Ford’s plans, and given that crossovers and SUVs are extremely popular these days, the Focus will soon be dead for good.

Nonetheless, we’ll continue to see unofficial resurrections of the model in the years to come, and we hope that future ones will be on the realistic side of things, unlike the ones shared above which use the front and rear fascias from the last-gen Mustang.
