Governor Justice Announces More Than  Million in Funding for Projects Across West Virginia

The West Virginia Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) Grant Program will distribute funding to local nonprofit CACs across the state to combat the problem of child abuse and neglect. The grants focus on a multidisciplinary response to the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse cases, providing services such as advocacy, education, forensic interviews, evaluations, and referrals.

The distribution of funding is as follows:

United Methodist Family Services of Burlington — $100,930.00
The funds will be used to provide intake, investigation and follow-up services to victims of child abuse, ages 3 to 17, in Hampshire and Mineral counties.

Cabell Huntington Hospital — $94,564.00
The funds will be used for services such as forensic interviews, advocacy and mental health for all children who have experienced any type of abuse in Cabell County.

CAMC Institute of Health Education and Research — $110,054.00
The funds will be used to continue funding CAMC’s Women’s and Children’s Advocacy Center, which provides forensic interviews, medical evaluations, advocacy services and therapy to children and families who have experienced abuse.

Change, Inc. — $90,002.00
The funds will be used to provide and coordinate on-site, child-centered services to victims of child abuse and their families in Brooke and Hancock counties.

Children and Youth Advocacy Center — $98,241.00
The funds will be used to enable the program to provide forensic interviews, advocacy services and therapy to child victims of abuse and neglect, as well as the support needed for a multidisciplinary team approach to the investigation, prosecution, treatment and prevention of abuse and neglect.

Mercer County Child Protection — $83,540.00
The funds will be used to strengthen the Mercer County Children’s Advocacy Center by allowing the program to retain current staff who will continue to provide direct services to child victims and their non-offending family members.

West Virginia Children’s Home Society — $108,565.00
Funds will be used to provide culturally competent, child-centered, and developmentally appropriate on-site services, including forensic interviews, mental health care, initial and ongoing advocacy, and case coordination for children and their families.

Cornerstone Family Interventions, Inc. — $85,440.00
The funds will be used to expand direct services to crime victims who need the services of the Child Advocacy Center in Boone and Lincoln counties.

Harmony House, Inc. — $94,948.00
Funds will be used to ensure a comprehensive, child-friendly, on-site, culturally competent, multidisciplinary response to allegations of child abuse using the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) model.

Harrison County Child Abuse Task Force — $121,702.00
Funds will be used to provide a physically and psychologically safe, child-friendly environment dedicated to providing a comprehensive, culturally competent, multidisciplinary response to allegations of child sexual abuse, sexual assault, severe physical abuse and neglect, witnessed violence, and drug endangerment.

For Children Only, Inc. — $94,996.00
The funds will be used to help children who have been victims of sexual and other criminal abuse and their non-offending family members.

Logan County Children’s Advocacy Center — $89,378.00
The funds will be used to provide basic services to abused and neglected children and their non-offending family members in Logan and Mingo counties.

Marion County Children’s Advocacy Center — $80,131.00
The funds will be used for forensic interviews, victim advocacy, case coordination and community outreach to child victims of sexual and/or physical abuse.

Monongalia County Children’s Advocacy Center — $79,795.00
The funds will be used to provide center-based services to victims of child abuse, including interviews and forensic evaluations, advocacy, education, referrals and therapy.

West Virginia Mountain CAP — $86,257.00
The funds will be used to provide forensic interviews, advocacy, education, case management and trauma-informed therapy, as well as support services for children who have experienced physical and sexual abuse in a child-friendly environment.

Nicholas County Family Resource Network — $91,107.00
The funds will be used to provide the Nicholas and Webster County Multidisciplinary Investigation Team with a child-friendly environment for children who have been victims of sexual and/or physical abuse.

North Star Children’s Advocacy Center — $139,064.00
The funds will be used to provide a safe, neutral, child-friendly environment where law enforcement and child protective services workers can observe forensic interviews with children who are suspected victims of abuse.

Randolph Tucker Children’s Advocacy Center — $89,330.00
The funds will be used to support a child-centered team response to child victimization, which includes forensic interviews, medical, mental health and advocacy services for children and their non-offending caregivers.

REACHH Family Resource Center — $73,888.00
The funds will be used to provide child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, domestic violence and their non-offending family members with counseling, case management, forensic interviews and advocacy.

Stop the Hurt, Inc. — $88,898.00
The funds will be used to provide direct services to victims of child abuse and/or neglect and to improve and strengthen the multidisciplinary team’s approach to investigating and prosecuting offenders.

West Virginia Child Abuse Network, Inc. — $132,418.00
The funds will be used to connect abuse survivors with services so they can find hope, healing, and justice, while also empowering adults to better respond to allegations of abuse. Through public awareness activities and quality technical assistance and training, WVCAN will work to empower CACs to better meet the needs of all abused children in West Virginia.

Wetzel County Commission — $85,440.00
The funds will be used to reduce the traumatic effects of child abuse, protect children from harm, provide justice for child victims, investigate abuse as a team, and strengthen community capacity to care for children.
