The Colombian national football team has reached the final of the Copa America After beating Uruguay in the semifinals, Argentina prepares to face Argentina, who earned their spot thanks to their victory over Canada. In addition to featuring these two powerhouses of South American football, the grand finale of the CONMEBOL tournament will be filled with other surprises, including Shakira’s halftime performance.

But her participation is not the only thing the singer is celebrating. She also shared a message following her national team’s victory, as they aim to win their second championship in the tournament’s history. “Go Colombia! We have a great team! See you on Sunday for the Copa America final!” Shakira posted on social media.

Shakira’s relationship with football continues, as she is the artist who performed the official song of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Waka Waka. Let’s remember how great that song was.

This week, CONMEBOL announced that Colombian singer Shakira will be the official artist of the Copa América final, which will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sunday, July 14.

“The time has come to announce the superstar who will perform at the unforgettable Copa América final. A woman who represents and magnifies the greatness of Latin America around the world. Just like our football that day, the final will be a celebration,” said Alejandro Dominguez, president of CONMEBOL.

Shakira is expected to perform Puntería and other hits from her musical career. The Copa América grand finale is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

What sporting events has Shakira participated in?

In addition to Shakira singing Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) as the official anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South AfricaShe also participated in other sporting events. This included the closing ceremony of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, 2010 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony and 2010 NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show.
