Chucky Season 4 Gets Disturbing Update From Star: Is It Now Cancelled?

ChuckyThe potential fourth season of has received an unexpected update from one of its main stars, Devon Sawa, and it could be devastating news for the horror series.

While Chucky has not yet been renewed for a season 4 by SYFY and USA Network, creator Don Mancini told The Direct that he “I have already presented it to the network” (SYFY Network and USA):

“I can’t say much about it. I can’t tell you what my idea is for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I’ve already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really enjoy doing.”

Mancini also hinted that season 4 would be “another left turn” in terms of the story they made:

“I think it’s really fun, new and again, another left turn from what we’ve done so far. We don’t know the status of the show yet. So again, fingers crossed that we get picked up, right?”

Will Chucky Season 4 Ever Come Out?

In a deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Chucky Mainstay Devon Sawa has shared a disturbing update about his involvement in a potential season 4, telling a fan that Chucky The producers told him to “pass” to other projects:

“The producers told me to move on. I don’t know what that means, but I guess that’s what I’m doing. Unfortunately.”

The actor further clarified in another message from X that he meant that he would not play any characters in a potential season 4 and that the renewal status of the series had not yet been revealed:

Fan: “Please tell me this isn’t what I think it means? Maybe there’s just no Sawa character this season? I’m really going to kill myself.”

Devon Sawa: “Yeah, no, Sawa. That’s all I wanted to say. Good luck.”

When a fan pointed out how odd it was that the networks hadn’t officially canceled it, Sawa offered a hopeful response, saying: “And maybe they won’t.”

Sawa also reposted a message pointing out that he had said the same thing about not returning in the last two seasons, but he came back anyway, potentially teasing that he was just trolling fans with his post:

What to Expect in Chucky Season 4

Chucky I ended season 3 with a massive cliffhanger where the titular killer doll and Tiffany rode off into the sunset with Caroline Cross, ready to wreak havoc elsewhere.

Additionally, the main trio of teens (Jake, Devon, and Lexy) have been turned into dolls by Chucky and it looks like Nica is in big trouble as well.

The Season 3 finale offers plenty of interesting plot points for a potential Season 4, and a cancellation would derail the possibility of complex storytelling while not allowing viewers to find out what’s next for Chucky and the rest of the cast.

Devon Sawa’s latest comments about not being involved in a possible season 4 could turn out to be true, but he still has hope that a renewal could still happen with or without him.

If Chucky ended up being cancelled, there is still hope that the show will return in another form.

Creator Don Mancini previously hinted in an interview with DJ Suss One in March 2024 that a killer doll movie was in the works, noting that it was in the “preliminary steps” to develop it and it could “working in tandem with the television show:”

“I want to continue to make new films and, in fact, I’m starting to develop one, which is designed to work in tandem with the television series. You know, the continued attempt to conquer the universe with Chucky.”

One way or another, Chucky could still make a comeback, whether on the small or big screen.
