Consider yourself lucky, residents, athletes

COMMENTARY Excelsior Springs residents and student athletes are blessed with fantastic facilities. In recent years, the school district has prided itself on building state-of-the-art fields, stadiums and soccer courts. Frankly, they are some of the best facilities in the metro area. Consider Tiger Stadium, where many football and soccer games are played, as well as track and field meets. This spring, a new digital scoreboard was installed there, allowing the district to keep pace with most schools in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference, which already have this type of technology. Additionally, in recent years, the artificial turf has been replaced to help improve playing conditions for football and soccer — and the appearance of the field.
