Country singer Rick Trevino shares powerful message in new single “The Ride”

Houston – With a career spanning more than three decades, country singer Rick Trevino has proven himself to be a versatile and enduring artist.

A Houston native, Trevino rose to fame in the early 1990s with hits like “Just Enough Rope” and “She Can’t Say I Didn’t Cry.” It was his bilingual approach to country music, mixing English and Spanish lyrics, that set him apart in the genre. Now 31, years later, Trevino remains a dynamic performer, touring across the country and signing on to headline the 2024 Ford Bend County Fair. Houston Life reporter Mel Camp was on hand when he was revealed as the closing singer for the 10-day event in Rosenberg.

Before meeting the crowds at the fair, Trevino will travel across Texas in the coming weeks, stopping in Bandera, Tomball, Navasota and La Grange.

Twenty-six years after his No. 1 hit, “Running Out of Reasons to Run,” he’s still working hard in the summer. His latest single, “The Ride,” is a heartfelt journey through his life that serves as advice to younger listeners. Trevino performed it for the first time on guitar and live on television for Houston Life.
