A Pennsylvania woman was shocked after winning $1 million in the lottery, but admitted she wouldn’t quit her job despite her newfound fortune.

Kimberley A. of Allegheny County had been playing the Pennsylvania lottery for more than 35 years when she finally won big in 2023. On June 22, the lottery winner stopped by Willy’s Beer & Beverage to buy scratch-off tickets.

Eager to see if she had found a winner, she scratched off her tickets in-store that day and used the retailer’s ticket checker. Kimberley was shocked to discover she had pocketed $1 million. “The store owner asked me if I had won a jackpot and I said, ‘Tell me,’” Kimberley said. “I was shocked.”

Kimberley claimed her win on June 27. After confirming her prize, she shared the incredible news with her parents. “I took a picture of the numbers on the scanner in the store and showed them. My mom was shocked and my dad had tears in his eyes. He never thought he would see a million dollar bill. Everyone is so happy for me,” Kimberley said.

While $1 million may seem like a life-changing sum, Kimberley revealed that she doesn’t want the win to change her life too drastically. She plans to continue working full-time in sanitation.
