Inspired by Times Square in New York, Hyderabad to create T Square at Knowledge City, Raidurgam

Creating a public space inspired by the iconic Times Square in New York is a visionary endeavour for any city. Taking inspiration from such a famous landmark, the Telangana government is proposing to develop ‘T Square’ in Knowledge City.

Like Times Square, Hyderabad to get T Square

What was once a bustling theatre district has become a global hub of commerce, entertainment and tourism. The vibrant lights, towering billboards and pedestrian spaces of New York’s Tims Square have redefined audience interaction and engagement. Telangana Square (T-Square), to be built in Knowledge City, Raidurg, and based on New York’s Times Square.

The Request for Proposal (RFP) from Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TGIIC) states that T-Square aims to become a landmark and an architectural work of art. The intersection will be built as a multi-use, park-like plaza with elements of a commercial intersection, an entertainment hub, a collaborative zone and a tourist destination with vibrant urban areas. T Square would also feature colourful digital billboards similar to those in Times Square.

The square will serve as an urban micro-lung for the neighbourhood and a diverse gathering place that will thoughtfully integrate green spaces. It will host a range of celebrations of local spirit, from planned activities to musical performances. TGIIC pointed out that despite the continuous improvements in Hyderabad’s infrastructure, the city still lacks a recreational hub.
