What Does Phil Foden’s Tattoo Say? The English star has a poignant message tattooed on his neck

Phil Foden truly arrived at Euro 2024 by helping England reach the final, but it wasn’t just his skills that had fans talking.

The Manchester City star struggled early in England’s campaign in Germany but looked unstoppable against the Netherlands after enjoying the best individual season of his career.

Foden won the Premier League Player of the Year award as he helped City win an unprecedented fourth consecutive league title last season.

The 23-year-old has scored 27 times in all competitions, including two goals in a win over West Ham.

Foden has also become something of a fashion icon as his rise to the top continues, notably making headlines at Euro 2020 for his Paul Gascogine-inspired hair.

Although the attacking midfielder has kept a more low-key demeanor in Germany, his visible neck tattoos are still hard to miss.

What does Foden’s tattoo say?

Foden has two distinctive ink marks on his neck, the most visible of which reads: “The sky’s the limit.”

The England international got the tattoo in February 2022 by popular artist Gabriel Maniak.

The sentimental message signifies that there is no limit to what can be accomplished in the pursuit of success and that anything is possible.

That has certainly been true of Foden’s career, with the striker winning a sixth Premier League title in just seven years.

Stockport’s Iniesta added to his tattoo collection in 2023, having his iconic shirt number ’47’ inked below his ear.

The number 47 was Foden’s first shirt at City and he has worn it since his debut for the Citizens in 2017.

He also has a poignant connection to his family roots, with his late grandfather Ronnie passing away when he was just 47.

Foden had previously revealed he had rejected the opportunity to take Sergio Aguero’s No.10 shirt at City following the Argentine’s departure.

His latest neck tattoo suggests he has no intention of leaving 47.

For England he does not wear the number but he will hope the sky will be the limit this weekend when the Three Lions take on Spain in the hope of winning their first international title since 1966.
