Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s “Music for Maryland” Tour Stops in Salisbury July 16

Salisbury Independent

SALISBURY — The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will stop in Salisbury on July 16 as part of its Music for Maryland tour.

The eight-stop tour, which kicked off July 9, features a mix of chamber ensemble and full orchestra concerts. Stops include Dorchester, Somerset, Caroline, Talbot, Worcester and Wicomico counties on Maryland’s Eastern Shore; Charles County in southern Maryland; and Washington County in western Maryland.

The Salisbury tour will begin at 7 p.m. in the Jackson Family Auditorium at Holloway Hall on the grounds of Salisbury University, 1101 Camden Avenue. The guest artist will be the Chamber Ensemble.

Tour organizers said admission to each concert, which features classical and modern music, is paid and reservations are encouraged. Suggested donations are $10 per ticket.

“Music for Maryland is about transforming our commitment into real-world experiences, bringing the joy of music to every corner of Maryland,” said Mark Hanson, the orchestra’s president and CEO, in a statement. “We are grateful for the partnerships with counties across the state that made this tour possible as we look for new ways to serve our community across the state.”

Launched in 2022, as the pandemic drew to a close, the Music for Maryland tour said its goal is to expand the organization’s reach across the state of Maryland beyond the walls of Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and the Music Center at Strathmore, and into all 24 jurisdictions across the state by the end of 2024, with an intensive focus on the summer months.
