As time runs out until Donald Trump’s running mate is announced, DailyMail.com can reveal that no one has yet been offered the job.

The party’s convention in Milwaukee is expected to reveal the former president’s vice presidential pick on Monday.

But a source familiar with the matter said late Monday morning: “No one has been offered that deal yet.”

According to some sources, he has made a choice between three candidates: Senator JD Vance of Ohio, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida or Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota.

Fox News anchor Bret Baier said the president told him he would announce his decision today.

Trump arrived in Milwaukee Sunday night for the Republican National Convention.

But Trump is well known for making last-minute decisions and leaving his audience in limbo.

At the same time, he must decide whether to review the process after the shocking events of Saturday, when an assassin’s bullet nearly killed him.

Would that make Vance’s MAGA rhetoric less palatable amid Trump’s own calls for unity?

Does that make Rubio’s decades of political experience and senatorial know-how more useful?

Would Burgum’s experience as a head of state make him more suited to step in to fill the top job if an assassination were successful?

Could Trump also surprise by choosing a candidate from his long list, such as Rep. Byron Donalds or Sen. Tim Scott? Or could he consider an entirely new name?

Either way, it goes against the grain of recent history. Most presidential candidates announced their picks before the convention began.

But he also noticed Sen. J.D. Vance’s recent weight loss and remarked how well his suits fit him now. “He’s a handsome son of a b***h,” he told insiders.

Whoever it is, he is due to address Congress on Wednesday.

And Trump will close this quadrennial jamboree a day later after being crowned the candidate for the November election.

He has repeatedly rejected the idea that he would pick someone who could help him win the election by targeting a region or demographic group.

Instead, he said he would choose someone who could take over if necessary.

“You need someone who can be good just in case, or horrible just in case,” he said in May.

To show how much of a game-changer Saturday’s shootings were, Trump rewrote his convention speech to reflect the new political environment.

“The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a real success,” he told the Washington Examiner.

“If that had not happened, it would have been one of the most incredible speeches aimed primarily at the policies of President Joe Biden.

“Honestly, it will be a completely different speech now,” he added.

Trump and convention organizers insist the convention will go ahead as planned.

“Right now, it is more important than ever that we stand together and show our true character as Americans by remaining strong and determined, and not allowing evil to win,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website.
