Live: All trains cancelled between Huddersfield and Penistone after landslide

A landslide has caused chaos, paralysing all rail lines between Huddersfield and Penistone.

Trains running between these lines have been cancelled or modified. The disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.




Minibuses have been put in place to transport train users between Huddersfield, Penistone and Barnsley. Journey times are expected to be extended by an hour.

National Rail said: “A landslide in the Huddersfield area means all lines are closed between Huddersfield and Penistone. Trains running between these stations will be cancelled or altered to stop/start at Penistone. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”

A landslide in the Huddersfield area means all lines are closed between Huddersfield and Penistone. Trains running between these stations will be cancelled or altered to stop/start at Penistone.

Disruptions are expected until the end of the day.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and note your journey as both will be needed to support any claim.

Replacement transport:

Road transport will take place as follows:

  • 17:20 to Penistone, stopping at all stations towards Huddersfield. Operated by Wyatts (1x minibus)

  • 17:25 Huddersfield, all stations to Penistone. Operated by Mayfair (1x minibus)

  • 18:15 Barnsley, all stations to Huddersfield. Operated by Elite (1x minibus)

Travel times can be extended by up to 60 minutes when traveling by road transport.
