Light Sentence for Man Caught With Stolen Vehicle and Pursuit in Kimball

A Mitchell man who was arrested in February after being caught with a stolen vehicle and leading authorities on a pursuit has been sentenced.

24-year-old Garrett Rust was facing Kimball County charges including Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Felony Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest.

Last month he pleaded no contest to the flight to avoid arrest charge, and in exchange for his plea the theft charge was dismissed.

On Friday in District Court, he was sentenced to the 10 days in jail he had already served shorter costs.
