Lottery player shocked by big win on lunch break in South Carolina. ‘I told my boss to pinch me’

Lottery player shocked by big win on lunch break in South Carolina. ‘I told my boss to pinch me’

A man’s forgotten item helped him win a huge lottery prize during his lunch break, South Carolina officials said.

The man went to a Greenville convenience store to buy Powerball tickets, according to an April 9 news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery. He had no idea he would soon win $1 million.

“I asked my boss to pinch me,” he told officials.

When he returned to work, he realized he had not received his gambling tickets from the cashier, authorities said.

When it was time to take his next break, he returned to the store to pick up the game tickets and decided to purchase two Money Maker scratch-off tickets worth $1,000,000, officials said.

“I won $20 and $1 million with them,” he said in the statement. “I was shocked. If the clerk had given me my tickets, I would have had no reason to come back.”

The man, however, has no plans to quit his job, but rather to invest the money in his retirement, lottery officials said.

“It was a stroke of luck,” the winner told officials.

Greenville is located approximately 100 miles northwest of Columbia.

Many people can gamble without any risk. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin their lives and families.
