Loren Allred sparks anger among ‘BGT’ fans after Golden Buzzer

England has an incredible talent Viewers have branded the show “unfair” and “rigged” after judges awarded the coveted Golden Buzzer to American singer Loren Allred, who appeared on the soundtrack of The Greatest Showman.

The 32-year-old singer told the jury she had originally recorded reference vocals for the hit film, but actress Rebecca Ferguson suggested they use her for the final version of the ballad. Never enough.

Allred then rocked the room at the auditions with her passionate rendition of the song, prompting Amanda Holden to hit the Golden Buzzer and send Allred straight to the live shows.

Holden said the performance was “just incredible” and Simon Cowell added that she was “so deserved” to receive the recognition.

He added: “Having you reveal yourself to the world was one of the most incredible audition moments I’ve ever had. I’m speechless.”

But not everyone was so thrilled with Allred’s performance, with some viewers saying her status as a professional singer in such a prestigious film should disqualify her from the show.

The Greatest Showman grossed $435 million (£333 million) at the global box office upon its release in 2017, with the soundtrack album spending 11 consecutive weeks at the top of the UK albums chart.

Given her success outside of the show, viewers on social media accused Allred of “cheating” and accused the show of being “rigged” and “unfair” to other artists.

“This woman is already very present in the industry and does not need this boost,” wrote one.

Ahead of her appearance on the show, Allred told The Sun that she was “still trying to make a name for myself” in the music industry as an unsigned artist.

She added: “Even though I’ve spent many years in the music industry, people don’t know who I am.

“All these years I fought for a chance to be known and to succeed.

“The opportunity to sing Never enough She went from being a session singer to a choir, and even though the song was a big hit, people still think the actress sang it.

“I never had the chance to tell my story.”

A spokesperson for England has an incredible talent added: “Although most people have heard of the infamous The Greatest Showman Loren is not a household name and she deserves her place on the BGT stage. We hope that articles like this will not be a barrier to someone who is more than deserving of this opportunity.

“It’s fantastic that Loren can now stand out and assert herself as the face, and not just the voice, of one of the most famous songs of all time.”

THE England has an incredible talent Auditions are expected to continue with a second episode on Sunday night, following Saturday’s launch show.

This is the first series of the ITV variety show since 2020, with the 2021 series having been cancelled due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
