UK must reverse Sunak’s decision to cut CO2 emissions to meet net zero target

The new Labour government must “urgently” reverse rollbacks to green energy initiatives taken by its Conservative predecessor to meet the UK’s net zero emissions targets, a climate watchdog has said.

While the UK has more than halved its greenhouse gas pollution over the past three decades, current policies cover only a third of the 2030 emissions reduction target, the independent Committee on Climate Change said in its annual progress report on Thursday.
