“What excites me about the upcoming season (of RHONY) is that it’s still going to be the same fun, the same flirting, the same silly stuff, a little bit of drama and some attitude, but I also want to share more,” Whitfield says. “I’ve shared a lot in the last year, and it’s been tough, but I don’t just want to share the trauma. There are different sides to me: I have a career and I have passions, like design and decorating.” As fans well know, another one of those passions is chess, so she was sure to find a game for her new home.

The reality star has lived in a number of rentals over the years in New York City, so she has a number of “little party tricks” up her sleeve to make her temporary home feel like home. “I don’t have a key to the park, but I’m going to be a Gramercy girl and do what I always do, which is decorate, decorate, decorate, invest money in a rental and not worry about getting my deposit back,” Whitfield says. Swapping out light fixtures and outlet panel covers in favor of more opulent touches, hanging whimsical wallpaper, and weaving in sumptuous textures are just a few of the ways she gave her rental the Brynn aesthetic, which she calls “a ’70s Parisian vibe, peppered with antiques and funky contemporary pieces—it’s everywhere.”

As eclectic as it may seem, there was a method to the madness. Whitfield’s laid-back party girl persona RHONY She makes no secret of her savvy business-strategist approach to nearly every aspect of life. “I made a deck[for the apartment design]; I make a deck for everything, even when I go on a trip. I’ve been doing it for years,” she says. Adding to that strategy is personal consultation with friends who have serious art and design chops: fellow castmates Jenna Lyons, a fashion and interiors mogul; Erin Lichy, a real estate agent and interior designer; and curator and art advisor Racquel Chevremont, who joins the cast next season.

With the help of her friends and support from Minted, she was able to get everything together in time. “I sent Jenna so many options. She was just giving me thumbs up and thumbs down (on text messages),” Whitfield says. “She saw 12 different versions of the chair I’m sitting in right now.” Artwork in every room helps give the apartment the curated, lived-in feel she was looking for. “Working with Minted and getting to know all the artists through the process… it was really great,” she recalls.
