How Nikki Haley Voters Are Responding to the Republican Convention’s Message of Unity

Laura Barron-Lopez:

I’ve been on a lot of discussion groups the last few days, Geoff.

Haley voters, moderate Republicans and swing voters say the assassination attempt on Donald Trump hasn’t changed their minds. But they also say they’re not necessarily sure they’ll vote for President Biden.

I spoke to Craig Snyder, a Republican politician from Pennsylvania who is the director of Haley Voters for Biden PAC. He told me that Haley’s support for Trump isn’t changing the minds of the voters he’s pitching to, and that the Haley voters he’s trying to mobilize are open to Democrats other than Joe Biden.

Craig Snyder, director of Haley Voters for Biden: They would certainly be willing to consider another Democrat. But it would depend on who the person turns out to be. The reality is that these voters are looking for someone in the center, number one. Number two, they’re looking for someone they see as a stabilizing force, a non-chaotic force.

Third, they look for someone they consider decent and civilized.
