Dani Olmo sends transfer message as Liverpool run out of time to trigger release clause

RB Leipzig ace Dani Olmo has said he is unsure whether he wants to stay in Germany amid speculation surrounding his future.

The attacking midfielder played a key role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, beating England 2-1 in Berlin last weekend. His impressive performances this summer earned him a place in the team of the tournament, despite only starting in the quarter-final against Germany.

The 26-year-old has a release clause of $65 million (€60 million), and a number of clubs, including Liverpool, are said to be interested in signing the Spaniard. In addition to the Reds, Manchester City, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with Olmo.

The RB Leipzig midfielder’s release clause expires this weekend. His contract runs until the summer of 2027, which will only strengthen the Bundesliga side’s negotiating position.

In an interview with Spanish daily Marca after Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, Olmo admitted he was unsure whether he wanted to stay in Germany. “My advisors, who are dealing with this, already know what I want to do. I don’t know if I’m going to stay in Germany, we’ll see,” Olmo said.

Dani Olmo’s release clause will soon expire

“I want to be in a place where I’m appreciated and loved and what I want to do is win. There are several options, we’ll see what happens.”
