Resumption of flight operations and reservations and cancellations of airline tickets

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The technical glitch was caused by a Microsoft software outage that severely affected flight operations and bookings and cancellations of air tickets, which was resolved on Friday evening. Flight operations returned to normal at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport on Saturday. However, due to the outage on Friday, two night flights to Bangalore and Pune and a flight to Mumbai on Saturday morning were cancelled.

Due to a glitch in Microsoft’s cloud service, the work of airports, flights, banks and all sectors that use Microsoft services was disrupted on Friday. This also affected the flight services at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport and 10 flights, 5 arriving and 5 departing, were cancelled. Even boarding passes had to be issued manually.

At the same time, more than 20 flights were delayed. According to information received from the airport, the technical glitches were rectified around 2:30 am on Friday night and the situation was back to normal. However, due to the problem with Friday’s flights, IndiGo cancelled the flight from Bangalore at 12:25 am and the flight from Pune at 2:50 am, which stranded passengers arriving in the city at night in Bangalore and Pune.

Similarly, IndiGo had to cancel the flight from Mumbai to the city at 8:10 am on Saturday and returning to Mumbai at 8:40 am. Sources said the airline had to take this decision due to disruption in flight operations on Friday. Passengers were informed about the flight cancellation, but many of them reached the airport in the morning due to lack of information. The airline has given passengers the option to get refunds and rebook. Ullas Nair, owner of Vistaar Travels, informed that the process of booking and cancelling flight tickets was also working normally on Saturday.
