Yemen ready for ‘long war’ with Israel after Hodeidah strikes

Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree

Yemen’s armed forces vow to continue pro-Palestinian operations after the Israeli regime attacked civilian targets in the Arabian Peninsula country in an attempt to deter Sanaa from carrying out the strikes.

Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree made the remarks on Saturday, hours after Israeli warplanes targeted buildings, oil facilities and a power plant in Yemen’s western province of al-Hudaydah, causing a number of casualties.

He described the airstrikes as a “heinous aggression” that targeted civilian structures.

Yemeni forces, the official added, “will not stop their operations in support of our brothers in Gaza, whatever the consequences and results.”

Israeli forces have been targeting the occupied Palestinian territories as well as Israeli and Israeli-affiliated vessels since October 7, when Tel Aviv launched a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.

They vowed to continue their operations as long as the regime continues the war and the simultaneous siege it imposes on Palestinian territory.

Saree also said that the forces “are preparing for a long war with this enemy until the aggression ends, the siege is lifted and all crimes committed against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip cease.”

He also said that Yemen reserves the right to retaliate against the Israeli regime following Saturday’s attack on al-Hodeidah.

“They (Yemeni forces) will respond to this heinous aggression and will not hesitate to strike vital targets of the Israeli enemy,” the official said.

In the same context, he reiterated an earlier statement by the forces, in which they warned that the coastal city of Tel Aviv in the occupied territories was no longer a safe place because it was within range of Yemeni weapons.

The forces carried out a drone strike on the city on Friday in their most audacious attack on the regime since the start of the Gaza war.
