NBA Announces Start Time for Celtics’ Final Summer League Game

NBA Announces Start Time for Celtics’ Final Summer League Game

The Celtics will play their final NBA Summer League game on Sunday, facing the 76ers in the consolation round in Las Vegas. The league announced that the Celtics will face the Philadelphia 76ers at Cox Pavillion in Las Vegas at 5 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on NBATV and also locally on NBC Sports Boston.

Boston is 2-2 in its Summer League, narrowly missing out on a spot in the Summer League semifinals, which also takes place Sunday afternoon. The Heat and Warriors will face off in one game while the Clippers and Grizzlies will battle for a spot in the title game in another. The championship game is Monday night at Thomas and Mack Arena.

The Celtics could play with another depleted roster for Sunday’s game after giving veterans a day off in the latter parts of Summer League. Jaden Springer left Las Vegas, according to league sources, after playing one game and practicing with the team this week. Neemias Queta and Drew Peterson watched the Celtics’ last two games from the bench, while two-way point guard J.D. Davison had the night off against the Mavericks on Friday.

If those players continue to watch from the bench, Sunday will be another big opportunity for Boston’s rookies as well as second-year forward Jordan Walsh. Second-round pick Anton Watson has been a bright spot in Summer League, averaging 11.0 points while shooting 51 percent from the field and playing solid, versatile defense. Baylor Scheierman has struggled with his shooting (30.8 percent) but has been a consistent contributor with his rebounds (5.0 per game) and assists (3.7 assists per game).

Sunday’s game will also be another chance for Walsh to break out of his summer slump. Walsh has shot 22 percent in four games and has yet to make a three-pointer in Las Vegas, missing 22 straight attempts. Sunday’s game will be Boston’s last game before training camp opens in September.
