Who’s the most vocal in the Dodgers locker room? Miguel Rojas was offered a surprise name

Behind every championship team is at least one strong leader. On a team like the Dodgers, filled with highly decorated MLB veterans and legends, it can be hard to imagine who would take on that leadership role.

In an interview with Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation, Miguel Rojas revealed who he thinks is the most talkative person on the team. And surprisingly, it’s not a teammate.

“I think the lead singer is Dave Roberts,” Rojas told McKain. “We have our manager who’s going to find a way to reach everybody.”

Roberts became the 32nd Dodgers manager in franchise history after taking over the club from Don Mattingly in 2016. He previously played for Los Angeles from 2002-04.

Since becoming the Dodgers’ manager, Roberts has led the team to an 809-483 regular-season record. His playoff record is 45-39, including a World Series title in 2020.

But Roberts’ success isn’t a one-man show. And he’s not afraid to lean on his veteran players for support.

“Sometimes he needs someone to help him in certain situations and he’s very good at handling that,” Rojas said. “If he wants to go to someone, he’ll probably go through me, he’ll probably go through Mookie (Betts), he’ll go through Clayton Kershaw. So he uses his whole staff.”

Rojas, Betts and Kershaw have each played more than 10 seasons in MLB, making them three of the Dodgers’ most experienced players.

“I think in a team that wants to win a championship… it’s not just going to be one guy talking loudly and everyone waiting for him to say something to motivate themselves. I think it’s going to be like a team effort, where everyone does their part,” Rojas said.

The leadership of the Rojas-Betts-Kershaw trio, along with several other veteran players on the team, can help the Dodgers add another World Series ring to their collection.
