Legacy MD to provide seniors with a unique healthcare experience

EL CENTRO, CA (Saturday, July 20, 2024) – Vo Neighborhood Medical Clinic board member Chuck Fisher said there is one thing seniors are looking for when it comes to health care: a one-stop experience.

“They want to be able to go to the doctor, see a general practitioner, but also, in the same facility, see a specialist if they need one. They also want to be able to get a diagnosis and have their lab tests done immediately, get the test results and leave with the prescription the same day,” Fisher said.

Fisher recently hosted a tour of the new LEGACY MD MEDICAL GROUP (formerly Vo Medical Center) site for the El Centro Senior Club.

“They were impressed that Dr. Vo and LEGACY MD invited them to be among the first groups to tour the building. We felt it was only natural for them to be among the first groups to tour the new LEGACY facility,” Fisher said.

The new medical center is located at 1699 North Imperial Avenue in El Centro and has made a big impression on the group of seniors.

“The seniors were impressed with the size of the building. They were also very impressed with the facilities that will be available. In fact, the centre will have all the major specialists that are needed in this area. They were impressed that they will be able to go in and be seen in a timely manner,” Fisher said.

LEGACY MD has supported the Seniors Club at several of its previous health fair events and is aware of its many health care needs.

“A lot of seniors don’t drive; they have to ask a friend to drive them to a facility. This location is downtown. It’s easy to get to,” Fisher said.

Fisher pointed out that in some cases, a senior may have a health issue that is not taken seriously, and then it turns out to be a serious issue and it becomes an emergency. He said LEGACY MD will have an urgent care center ready to handle those emergencies. Fisher said that for some seniors, because of their age and other health issues, a seemingly minor illness or injury could quickly become a serious emergency.

“Seniors will have access to knowledge that they may not have had access to, like healthy living ideas, healthy diet ideas, healthy exercises – this information and many resources will be made available at LEGACY MD that could help seniors live longer, healthier lives,” Fisher said.

Zula Hartfield, president of the El Centro Seniors Club, said, “It was an amazing tour. It’s a state-of-the-art building. It’s an all-in-one facility. And it offers a lot of different medical services. It’s the perfect building for seniors.”

“You can go to the doctor, get your X-rays, take your medications, and do all your procedures in the same building,” Hartfield said.

Luis Romero, Chief Operating Officer of Legacy MD, said, “We will have virtually all specialty care and services here. We have an open MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, a team of specialists and a large urgent care department with extended hours until 8 or 9 p.m. We are also working hard to be able to provide a drive-thru pharmacy. Patients will be able to see their healthcare providers and receive their medications upon discharge, without having to travel anywhere else.”

“Come in and walk out with everything you need in one visit,” Fisher said.
