Leny Yoro has praised Manchester United fans after an “incredible” debut appearance for the club.

The 18-year-old completed his £52million move from Lille earlier this week and Erik ten Hag wasted no time in integrating the new signing straight into the squad.

Yoro started in central defence alongside Jonny Evans as United took on Rangers at Murrayfield in their second pre-season friendly, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill.

It was a confident first performance in a United shirt from Yoro, before he was substituted at half-time as Ten Hag made ten changes, and the Frenchman paid tribute to the travelling support in Edinburgh.

“For me it wasn’t Rangers Stadium, it was Manchester United Stadium,” Yoro told MUTV.

“The fans are everywhere, they are really nice to us. Of course, they were there for me, it was really important, so thank you to the fans, I hope to see them again soon at Old Trafford.”

With Raphael Varane out, Lisandro Martinez leaving after his Copa America appearance and Harry Maguire still not fully fit, Yoro’s availability is a big boost for United, especially as they now prepare for a tour of the United States and games against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool.

The teenager is likely to play an important role in these meetings, as he has revealed that he already feels at home in his new surroundings.

“It was amazing,” Yoro said.

“Good match from the team, I’m happy with my performance. I hope we continue like this.

“My teammates helped me a lot, the staff made me feel comfortable. On the pitch, we are together, so for me it’s very good.”
