600 more Delta flights canceled, more expected

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Delta is continuing its operational recovery Saturday after a technology issue with an outside vendor prompted the airline to ground flights for several hours Friday.

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, more than 600 Delta and Delta Connection flights were canceled, mostly in the morning and early afternoon.

According to the airline, additional cancellations are expected as some of Delta’s technology continues to recover from Friday morning’s vendor-caused issue.

The airline says it notifies customers of delays and cancellations to their itinerary via the Fly Delta app and text messages, and offers rebooking options that can be managed online.

Customers are encouraged to check delta.com or the Fly Delta app for the latest information on their itinerary.

A travel waiver, which gives customers the opportunity to make a one-off change to their itinerary, is still in place for those whose travel was booked on Saturday, July 20.

The fare difference for customers will be waived when the rescheduled trip takes place no later than July 25, in the same service cabin as originally booked.

Delta said it will continue to offer meal vouchers and hotel accommodations, when available, to customers whose flights are significantly delayed or canceled Saturday.
