Trump campaign quickly turns to Harris after Biden announces decision to quit race

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s campaign has spent the past year and a half viciously attacking Joe Biden, ridiculing his policies, mocking his blunders and relishing a revenge it thought it would win. But it also spent weeks preparing for the possibility that Biden would drop out of the race, preparing a series of attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris that it unleashed as soon as Biden announced Sunday that he was withdrawing. Biden soon after endorsed Harris, who quickly won support from Democrats as the party’s nominee. The shakeup less than four months before Election Day presents new challenges for Trump’s campaign, which until recently had focused on the contrast between the former president’s vigor and mental acuity.
