Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle stop house hunting in UK as Duke of Sussex ‘doesn’t feel comfortable’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have suspended their search for a new home in the UK, in a development that comes as they wait for taxpayer-funded security arrangements with the Home Office to be resolved.

In February, the Duke of Sussex lost his High Court appeal against the government over his security in the UK. He challenged the decision to reduce his security status after he ceased to be a working member of the royal family.

Harry argued that the decision was unfair, given the ongoing threats to his safety. He plans to appeal the court’s decision because he believes his family is not safe in the UK without the necessary security protection.

“Harry really wants to spend more time in the UK but he doesn’t feel comfortable doing so until the security issues have been resolved,” a source told The Express.

Prince Harry’s legal battle began in 2020. After the High Court ruled the decision was legal in February, it rejected the prince’s appeal in April. However, the Court of Appeal agreed to hear his case after a direct request from his lawyers.

“He and Meghan had planned to look for a second home near Windsor this year and were hoping the appeal process would be heard before the end of July so they could properly begin their search. However, the legal process appears to be taking its time,” the source added.

The Harry-Meghan equation with William and Kate

Harry and Meghan’s decision to pause their house search comes as their conflict with Prince William and Kate Middleton shows no sign of abating. The tension has always existed but has intensified following the publication of the Duke of Sussex’s memoir Spare.

This was further intensified by the Netflix series Harry and Meghanwhere the couple expressed their feelings towards the Prince and Princess of Wales.

However, the sentiment is said to have taken a positive turn after Princess Kate was diagnosed with cancer. According to a source interviewed by OK! Magazine, Harry now wants to build a closer relationship with his niece and nephew in Britain for the sake of himself and his children, who have had little contact with William’s family.

The royal source said Harry felt guilty about not having a relationship with his nieces and nephews and that Archie and Lilibet did not know their only cousins. Harry wanted them to grow up around William and Kate’s children: George, Charlotte and Louis.
