I’m A Celebrity star breaks silence on ‘unpleasant’ filming experience: ‘Trauma’

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is often described as one of the most positive reality shows on Australian TV, with its famous contestants leaving with newfound friendships and life-changing experiences. However, it appears not everyone reflects on their time in the jungle fondly.

Nikki Osborne tells Yahoo Lifestyle that, unlike many other participants, she had a “very unpleasant” time on the Channel 10 reality show and walked away with “trauma”. The comedian, who is currently competing on Dancing With The Starsappeared on I’m A Celebrity‘s sixth season in 2020 alongside Perez Hilton, Charlotte Crosby and eventual winner Miguel Maestre and was the second person eliminated.

“I had trauma from the jungle because not only did I bomb, I also got a lot of trolling upon exit,” she shares. “And also, I didn’t feel like producers liked me very much, so it was just all round, very unpleasant for me.

“You can tell when you’re in there whether (the producers) are gonna keep you around or not. You can tell by the amount of times you get called up to the little Tok Tokkie and you can tell by where the cameras are swinging to when you’re in there. Every now and then you spoke to the producers and there was just a vibe.”

Difference between I’m A Celebrity and Dancing With The Stars

Following the disappointing reality TV stint, Nikki admits she signed onto this year’s season of Dancing With The Stars with her “hackles up” and was pleasantly surprised.

“It was not like that at all,” she details. “No one was pit against one another, there was no nastiness, it was just really nice. And I think it’s because it’s a creative process.

“The entertainment comes from the craft, it doesn’t come from b***hiness or drama, so I think that’s the difference. I just loved it. Plus, I got to wear pretty dresses.”

The mother-of-two adds that even though the cast was incredibly competitive, everyone “got on really well” and formed a strong bond during filming.

“I was particularly annoyed about Samantha Jade being so nice because I really had her pegged as being a little pop princess pain in the bum,” she laughs. “But she was nice and she was warm.

“My dance partner and her dance partner were trying to pit us against one another because they believed we were the two to beat, and so they were trying to make us compete. And I said to Samantha, ‘Is Gustavo firing you up about me to compete?’ and she was like, ‘Yeah!’. So I was like, ‘I’m so sick of it, let’s just be friends’, and then we were good.”
