Government considers above-inflation public sector pay rises – Channel 4 News

New Chancellor Rachel Reeves has accused the Conservatives of running away, leaving all the tough decisions, such as public sector pay, to her government.

She suggested that teachers and 1.3 million NHS staff could benefit from the 5.5% above-inflation pay rise that independent pay review bodies have reportedly recommended.

But Ms Reeves also made it clear that finding the money to lift the two-child benefit cap was not an option.
