We were ready for this

Rick Wilson, a former Republican turned anti-Trump and co-founder of the anti-Donald Trump organization the Lincoln Project, said the group was ready to fill the airwaves with “ads about Trump’s age and mental health.”

Wilson said Sunday that the Lincoln Project has ads “stowed in silos” ready to attack Trump now that Joe Biden has withdrawn and the Democratic Party appears to be coalescing around Vice President Kamala Harris as its nominee.

Biden withdrew from the 2024 White House race on Sunday, ending his re-election chances after a disastrous debate with Trump that raised doubts about his fitness for office just four months before the election.

The move comes after growing pressure from Biden’s Democratic allies to step down after the June 27 debate, in which the 81-year-old president drifted apart, gave often absurd answers and failed to call out the former president’s many falsehoods.

Biden endorsed Harris as the party’s nominee.

“Today I want to give my full support and endorsement to Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year. Democrats, it’s time to unite and defeat Trump. Let’s do it,” Biden wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The Democratic National Convention takes place August 19-22 in Chicago.

Biden plans to serve out his term until the end, which ends at noon on January 20, 2025.
