Republicans Are Ready to Fight for America

The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee demonstrated the resilience of Donald J. Trump and the growth of a major political party more faithful to its founding principles. Founded on the concept that slavery was a moral sin, the Republican Party has come to represent the interests of most segments of American society.

This week has been unprecedented in political history. A sitting president forced to abandon his reelection campaign by his own party, a Republican convention where, for the first time since FDR, a party nominated the same candidate in three consecutive presidential elections, and a failed assassination attempt that took the life of an innocent father but spared President Trump, all while showing the true courage of those at the rally who did not panic and stood their ground.

Republicans at the Milwaukee convention also stood firm. They stood for ideas and answers to the issues that matter to voters: their jobs, their children’s education, open borders, street crime, the cost of health care, and the projection of American power. All of this comes down to upholding the U.S. Constitution and supporting the timeless phrase from our beloved Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Republicans let Americans tell their stories on the convention stage. A struggling farmer, a single mother working two jobs in Nevada, a family that lost a child to drugs, and the survivors of loved ones murdered by illegal immigrants. Yet each speaker had a message of hope for a better future—to make our country prosperous and safe—so that they and countless other families would not suffer the same loss.

We heard from the families of the brave men and women who were killed in the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan and whose names Joe Biden has never publicly uttered. They are Corporal David Lee Espinoza, Sergeant Nicole Gee, Master Sergeant Taylor Hoover, Master Sergeant Ryan Knauss, Corporal Rylee McCollum, Corporal Dylan R. Merola, Corporal Kareem Nikoui, Sergeant Johanny Rosariopichardo, Corporal Humberto Sanchez, Corporal Jared Schmitz, Medic Maxton “Max” Soviak, and Corporal Daegan William-Tyeler Page. We also heard from William Pekrul, a 98-year-old D-Day veteran, who said he was ready to put on the uniform again to protect America and he looked like he could do it!

There are also many more victims here in the United States because of our unprotected border—including victims of drug cartels, violent criminals, and potential terrorists. And yet the Biden administration “closed” the cases of some 350,000 illegal immigrants seeking asylum, removing the possibility of deportation, without the government knowing why they are here, and then supported granting voting rights to noncitizens, including illegal immigrants, in the District of Columbia.

While many may not like President Trump’s choice of language or manner, the bottom line is clear: Americans were more successful during his presidency. The average family had $6,000 more in the bank, inflation did not exist, American soldiers did not die overseas in ill-conceived wars, college campuses were not overrun with hate and anti-Semitism, and religious believers were not prosecuted for holding religious services.

Where is America today? Prices for basic necessities—food, gasoline, energy, and insurance—have increased by 20 percent or more. Credit card charges are skyrocketing, our schools and universities are infected with the self-loathing culture of political correctness. The world is in the throes of conflict in Europe and the Middle East, while Asia is on the brink of potential conflict with China.

Vice President Kamala Harris, or whoever Democrats are scrambling to nominate in a month, is responsible for this dismal record. Harris has been particularly negligent in her role as the steward of our borders—through which 10 million people have entered this country illegally, many depriving American workers of their wages while others have committed countless violent crimes against innocent citizens.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party have laid out a specific plan of action to make America great again through common sense, restoring individual rights, rebuilding our military, eradicating corrosive woke culture, and putting our nation’s interest above all others.

On that day in Butler, Pennsylvania, a murderer killed a brave husband and father, wounded two others, and nearly killed Donald Trump. But in true American fashion, President Trump, covered in blood and with his fist raised, stood up and told America to FIGHT. Fight for our families, our children, our American values. We must fight to ensure that the values and principles set forth by our Founding Fathers 250 years ago remain strong, vigilant, and always guide America and the world.

While there are many ways to help secure America’s future, the most important action every American can take is to participate in the process and vote. Early voting in Connecticut begins October 21 and runs through November 3.. Find your city’s early voting location here.

We have always known that America and our American values are worth fighting for.

Your vote matters more than ever. America’s future depends on it.
