GB News just broadcast Suella Braverman clumsy and frightening efforts to engage with the pro-Palestineprotesters, because they completely ignored her.

The former interior minister is known for pushing through the bill to deport asylum seekers to Rwandato support Israel in the middle of the war in Gaza and describing pro-Palestinian protests in the UK as “hate marches”.

On Thursday, GB News presenter Patrick Christys escorted the current backbencher around a Cambridge University camp during filming, presumably to try to capture a meeting between the two opposing camps.

But the couple failed miserably.

Christys approached a group of protesters wearing face masks and asked if they wanted to speak to Braverman.

The former minister introduced herself: “Hello, my name is Suella. I would like to know your point of view and the reasons for your protest.”

The protesters simply crossed their arms and stared at her.

In the stony silence, Braverman said: “I wonder why you’re covering your face. Is it Covid or a health measure?”

Another silence followed.

“No comment,” Braverman concluded.

“Okay, interesting,” Christys said. “What did you expect? Did you think people would engage with you a little bit? They’re very attached to it.”

Braverman responded: “These students are supposed to be among the brightest and best in the country, trained in the art of articulating their views and expressing their arguments coherently, and I am interested in their arguments. I am engaged and listening.”

They approached another group and Braverman said, “I’m really looking forward to hearing what your message is to Israel.”

There was no response from the wall of protesters.

“I am interested in hearing your comments on HamasBraverman reiterated. Do you think the hostages should be released now?

The discomfort grew even greater, with the protesters simply looking at the couple with contempt.

Christys and Braverman then walked past the encampment until they reached an elderly man holding a sign that read: “Openly Jewish Against Visible Genocide.”

“Can I ask you what your message is to Israel?” Braverman asked.

He just gestured towards his sign.

And when asked about his message to Hamas, he remained silent.

After two and a half minutes of this kind of interaction, Christys concluded: “This is really fascinating, I thought they would have some kind of response.”

“Yeah, I thought they’d have a line!” Braverman said.

Students at American and British universities have set up camps in recent weeks in an attempt to pressure the institutions to cut ties with Israeli organizations.
