“I’ve faced things that were a little unfair”

New Delhi:

Mahima Makwana, who plays the role of Mahika Nandy in the Dharma Productions series Show timeIn a recent interview with News18 Showsha spoke about the internal politics in the film industry. She said, “I have faced politics. I have faced things that were a little unfair. You don’t even know why you are being replaced. You don’t even know why you are being treated in a certain way. But I think ultimately, it’s the work that speaks and it has to speak for you. Because you see, you can’t change the way people treat you, but you can only change the way you detach yourself from what they think of you. In our industry, people treat each other in a very superficial way.”

She said: “Money, power and control are more important than the kind of person you are. And I think that’s something I’ve come to realise as I’ve grown up.”

The actress said that sometimes actors are treated differently. “Even now, there are days when I feel heartbroken. Obviously, as an actor, you’re selfish. You think, ‘I probably could have done this role better’ or ‘I didn’t even know about this particular opportunity.’ So yeah, the way actors are treated sometimes, the way I’m treated like I’m a person in the hierarchy sometimes, the way people make you feel unimportant and kind of indifferent, it makes you question a lot of things. It makes you doubt yourself, but you just have to be patient, keep your head down and do whatever you can, within your control,” she added.

Mahima Makwana has starred in shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum And Balika Vadhu as a child artist. She has also appeared in Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane, Code Redto name a few. She has also starred inAntim: The Final Truthwith Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma.
