DC Studios Logo Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 Is a Nod to the Classic DC Comics Logo

DC Studios unveiled its new logo at San Diego Comic-Con and it’s a tribute to Milton Glaser’s DC Comics logo that ran from 1977 to 2005.

James Gunn posted the logo on X/Twitter and said: “When Peter (Safran) and I formed DC Studios, we immediately knew what logo we wanted to use.”

As we mentioned earlier, the original logo that this new model is inspired by was launched in 1977 and was designed by Milton Glaser. It was affectionately called the “DC Bullet” and was used until 2005.

It’s obviously a loving tribute to the past, and during DC’s Jim Lee & Friends panel at SDCC, Lee had a few words to share to express his excitement for the moment, according to THR.

“For me and for many generations of fans, that particular logo defined DC at its peak,” Lee said. “I remember the DC renaissance in the 1980s, with Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, The Shadow “When it first came out, it was the DC logo. In the minds of many fans, it was the defining symbol of the DC brand. It’s exciting to bring it back.”

It has also been confirmed that this logo will begin appearing on comics, toys and merchandise starting in October 2024.

DC Studios also revealed the animated graphics that will introduce its future films, all of which will begin with Superman, which comes out in July 2025. Instead of quick cuts of our favorite DC characters, the team opted for a simpler cut that focuses on a drawing of Superman by co-creator Joe Shusteer coming to life and escaping his chains. At the end, the new logo appears.

The panel also unveiled the trailer for Max’s original series known as Creature Commandos, which will air in December as the first official DCU project.

The sequence shows a general arriving at a prison and touring the non-human internment division, and we get a good look at The Bride, Dr. Phosphorous, Weasel, GI Robot, Nina Mazursky, and Frankenstein.
