Agniveer reservation: Odisha CM Majhi announces 10% quota, age relaxation in uniformed services | India News

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced 10 per cent reservation and five-year age relaxation for Agniveers in uniformed services. This comes days after Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a similar announcement regarding preferences in various posts in state departments.

Dhami announced on Sunday that the Agniveers of the state who complete their service will be offered jobs in various departments of the state along with arrangements made for their reservation. Also read: Big announcement of reservation for Agniveers by Uttarakhand CM Dhami

The Odisha government on Thursday presented a budget of Rs 2.65 lakh crore for the financial year 2024-25.

The opposition BDD party is on the offensive following the budget announcement. Earlier, former Odisha chief minister and leader of opposition Naveen Patnaik had launched a scathing attack on the state budget, calling it a “double engine but double disappointment”.

However, former Odisha BJP chief Samir Mohanty hailed the state budget as “historic”, saying, “This is a people-oriented budget. Usually, the election manifesto is just a formality, but for the BJP, our manifesto has been prepared based on the feedback of the people. Since 65-70 per cent of Odisha’s population are farmers, this budget is designed to benefit them.”

Meanwhile, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said that the Subhadra scheme has been allocated Rs 10,000 crore. She asserted that the scheme would be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his state visit on September 17.
