Police launch manhunt for murder suspect after woman in her 20s stabbed to death in broad daylight in Ipswich

Police have launched a manhunt for a murder suspect after a woman in her 20s was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Ipswich.

Emergency services were called to Burrell Road shortly after 7.10pm today following reports a woman had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, police found the victim suffering from serious injuries. She was treated at the scene, but despite the care provided, she died a short time later.

A police cordon has been deployed at the scene and the road is closed to traffic at both ends.

No arrests have been made yet, but police believe the victim and her attacker knew each other, Ipswich.co.uk reported.

Chief Inspector Tam Burgess said: “Emergency services, including a number of police resources, have been deployed to the scene and people in the area will continue to see an increased police presence throughout the evening and into the coming days.

“A murder investigation has been opened and we are in the early stages of our enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, but it is understood that the parties are known to each other.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information, however small.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage that may be of assistance to investigators is asked to contact police.
