Jenna Ortega Shares Surprising Objects Found in Tim Burton’s House, Including a ‘Jar of Eyeballs’

Jenna Ortega gives fans a glimpse inside director Tim Burton’s home.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actress shared that the iconic director once invited her to his home for a meeting. Describing the residence, she mentioned the unique decor he filled it with, including his figurines of what she called “little creatures.”

“You walk in and it’s the huge Alice in Wonderland throne,” Ortega explained, adding, “There’s a jar of eyeballs in the bathroom.”

Burton is known in Hollywood as the eccentric mastermind behind some of the most whimsical and original films, including “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “Sweeney Todd” and many others.

The actress and director first collaborated on the first season of the Netflix series “Wednesday,” in which Ortega plays the main character, Wednesday Addams. Although she didn’t know exactly what the meeting at Burton’s was about, Ortega didn’t expect the situation to take such a turn.

“He just put a script in my hand, and it was ‘Beetlejuice,’” she said.

After years of fans clamoring for a sequel to the 1988 cult classic, a follow-up film was announced in February 2022. Ortega recalls reading the script for the first time and saying, “Right away, I was like, ‘Oh man, they did something here.'”

The sequel, titled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” sees the return of many of the original film’s stars, including Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara and Michael Keaton, who will reprise his role as the rowdy ghost, Beetlejuice.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Burton said Ortega was “one of my favorite people to work with,” adding that she was “different from anyone else” he had worked with in the past. He also compared her to Ryder, who has now appeared in four of his films.

“They both had, in their youth, a very strong soul,” he said. “They are like silent film actors.”

Ryder and Burton first worked together on the original “Beetlejuice” film, when she was 17. She also starred in Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands” in 1990 and “Frankenweenie” in 2012.

Ryder and Ortega have both found great success since working with Burton. Ryder received two Oscar nominations for her work on “The Age of Innocence” and “Little Women,” and now stars in Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” while Ortega received an Emmy nomination for her work on “Wednesday” and starred in the “Scream” reboot.
