Michael Smith slams Olympics 2024 for breaking competition as he moans ‘and darts can’t get in the Games?’

DARTS legend Michael Smith has thrown himself into the Olympics controversy over breaking.

The 2023 world champion appears staggered that a form of street-dancing is debuting at Paris 2024 – ahead of his own sport.

Bully Boy believes there should be gold, silver and bronze for hurling tungsten at the oche.

But he’s shocked that competitors get gongs for screaming their bodies around in dancing “battles”.

The English ace, 33, made his point with a simple post on social media.

Smith wrote: “And darts can’t get in the Olympics. #breaking.”

It was a powerful bullseye for those who doubt the inclusion of street-dancing rather than some more established sports.

Apart from darts, that list of non-Olympic activities includes snooker, squash, bowling, netball, polo and Mixed Martial Arts.

And viewers who spotted Smith’s verdict made an even bigger song and a dance as they joined in the debate.

One said: “Darts should definitely be in.”

Another wrote: “Team GB will have an insane line-up if Darts was in the Olympics. Hope it happens in 2028.”

But a third commented: “It’s not a sport, it’s a hobby.”

And lovers of breaking have been popping up on social media to defend it.

One fan said: “I don’t care, this is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Meanwhile, an oche enthusiast had a solution for how Smith could get into the Olympics.

He posted: “You can try long-range darts Michael.”

But the Merseysider revealed that just would be a throw-back to past glories.

He replied: “When I was 11 I won the inter counties gold medal for javelin. So done it before lol.”
