No More Automated Rules Templates

If you use Automated Rules templates, listen up…

What Were Automated Rules Templates?

In the past, when you created an Automated Rule you were first given the option of selecting templates.

Automated Rules

They included:

  • Enable Advantage+ Creative
  • Reduce Auction Overlap
  • Optimize Ad Creative
  • Reduce Audience Fragmentation

These were very different from the standard custom rule creation that allows you to take actions based on performance metrics. These weren’t really rules, but more a willingness to allow Meta to make pretty significant structural and creative changes.

Where Did They Go?

But now when you create a rule, you’re taken straight to the custom rule creation flow. No more templates.

Automated Rules

A message at the top of Automated Rules explains why:

Automated Rules

Rules for recommendations are now automatic adjustments. Manage automatic adjustments you’ve already set up or create new ones in Account Overview.

Automatic Adjustments

Automatic Adjustments

When you click Automatic Adjustments on the Account Overview page, you’ll see options for Campaign Structure, Audience, Creative and Format, Delivery and Engagement, and Spend and Schedule.

Automatic Adjustments

When turned on, these automatic adjustments will behave just like those automated rules. For example, Campaign Structure will automatically adjust to fix problems related to Auction Overlap and Audience Fragmentation.

Automatic Adjustments

Of course, you could just construct your campaigns to avoid Auction Overlap and Audience Fragmentation in the first place. Or you could turn on the Advantage+ Creative and Standard Enhancements that are covered by these automatic adjustments.

Do you have these turned on?
