Get a sneak peek at the new Apple TV+ comedy from Ted Lasso creator Bill Lawrence

There are some pairings that are clearly made for each other and fit together as perfectly as a dovetail. Combinations like peanut butter and jelly. Lennon and McCartney. Apple TV+ and Bill Lawrence—the latter the co-creator of two of Apple’s best original releases to date (Ted Lasso And Contraction) and who has a third star-studded comedy called Bad Monkey will debut later this week on the iPhone maker’s streaming service.

The new series, based on Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 novel of the same name, stars Vince Vaughn as a Florida man. He’s in his element here, playing a fast-talking protagonist named Andrew Yancy who works as a health inspector in the Florida Keys after being fired from the Miami Police Department. “But after stumbling upon a case that starts with a human arm being fished out by tourists,” Apple says of Bad Monkey“He realizes that if he can prove the murder, he will be re-elected.

“He just needs to get rid of a bunch of Floridian eccentrics and a mean monkey.”

Apple TV+ has released a preview of the 10 episodes Bad Monkeywhich you can consult below, before the start of the show August 14th (This is when the first two episodes will air, followed by one episode each week thereafter). In addition to Vaughn, the Bad Monkey The cast also includes Rob Delaney, Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith and Zach Braff – as well as Lawrence’s daughter Charlotte, who is making her television debut.

Lawrence said in the UK The Independent:“I’ll tell you how many times I’m on a show and people say, ‘Hey, Bill, your show could use someone under 25 who has a million followers on Instagram and can reach a different audience than your shows typically reach.’ And the honest, selfish businessman in me says, ‘My daughter, my daughter, my daughter.’”

“I’m really proud of her, man. As long as people recognize that, I think it would be criminal for me not to want to spend time with her and not work with her. She’s a rock star. She’s awesome.”
