Bad news for ‘My Lady Jane’ fans: Season 2 is canceled on Amazon Prime Video

These days, when you fall in love with a new TV series, you have to protect your heart and prepare for the worst. After all, too often, the best new series are canceled before they have a chance to truly shine. Such is the case with historical romantic comedies. My Lady Jane, one of the best shows of 2024.

Amazon has canceled the historical drama series starring Emily Bader, and I’m sure the company has its reasons. But there’s no comfort, cold or otherwise, in knowing that there won’t be another season of this delightful and unique series.

My Lady Jane The cast included Emily Bader, Edward Bluemel, Jordan Peters, Anna Chancellor, Dominic Cooper, Kate O’Flynn, Rob Brydon, Abbie Hern, Isabella Brownson, Robyn Betteridge, Henry Ashton, Máiréad Tyers, Michael Workeye, Joe Klocek, Brandon Grace and Will Keen. It was based on the novel of the same name written by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows. It was a success with critics and audiences, with the former receiving a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes and the latter a 79%.

I looked My Lady Jane At first I was skeptical. I thought it was going to be just another girl boss show, but it turned out to be delightfully funny with an incredibly wonderful cast and a really fun story that definitely deserved at least one more season to tie up the loose ends. The characters were complex. The heroine was flawed and endearing. It felt like a much less cynical show. The Great and deserved as many seasons as Hulu’s hit romantic comedy.

In my review, I noted that the first season “ends on a satisfying note, but with enough story left to tell that a second season would be more than welcome. With such a great cast, gorgeous costumes, witty writing, and an upbeat tone, I really hope Amazon orders another one.”

Ratings and money still dictate these decisions, but I wish streamers like Amazon had something else: vision. Vision and the courage to give something new the space and time it needs to grow. I truly believe that My Lady Jane would have gone on to create a loyal and passionate following – after all, its fans are already extremely loyal. Today, all the charm and effort that made this series great has been reduced to nothing.

If you haven’t watched it yet, I still recommend it. The first season does enough to make it worth your while.

I remember Galavant, Another wonderful and charming series that deserved another season, but at least it got the green light for two before the suits slit its throat. My Lady Jane As for this book, what a waste of a good story and an abundance of wit and talent. There is an endless supply of filth to consume. It is a terrible shame to see something this good put out to pasture before its time.

Meanwhile, after its abysmal first season, Amazon continues to fund The Rings Of Power, proving that life really isn’t fair.
